Volunteering at AYC
A particular feature of the Axe Yacht Club is that, despite offering facilities that are comparable with most commercial marinas, it has been created by and is operated by volunteers drawn from across the membership, with paid professional input only where necessary. This self-help ethos is the essence of AYC. Members are involved in all aspects of the running of the club and volunteering is a great way to meet other members.
Fred's shed volunteers
The Fred's shed team of volunteers maintains the boatyard, Clubhouse, yacht basin & moorings and AYC simply would not function without them (see Harbour services).
Activities afloat
Activities afloat rely on volunteers to act as Race Officers, time keepers & support boat drivers/crews and all participants contribute to the rota. All cadet sessions are organised by parents and volunteers. We rely on parents to help with rigging dinghies, launching/retrieving and manning the support boats. If you are keen to help but do not have much experience don't worry - training will be given (see Activities Afloat).
Social activities
The social team also relies on volunteers to help with making tea & coffee, baking cakes, cooking Sunday lunch, helping with fund-raising events, running BBQ's and organising a multitude of other functions throughout the year (see Social Programme).
** Help is needed in both Summer and Winter **
So, if you have any spare time, why not help out and have a bit of fun along the way!

Annual 'Club Awards' are presented at the AGM and allow the membership to recognise those who have gone 'over and beyond' regularly and for a period of time, normally several years. Click HERE for more.
