Following the more stringent government directive this week, members should not be working on their boats in the AYC yard. Travelling to the yard should be considered an unnecessary journey. All preparations for boat launching including mast raising have ceased. The public right of way means that we cannot stop members of the public walking through the yard but we urge members to follow the government's advice at all times - minimise the time

Following last night's government directive, it leaves us with no option but to postpone all of our Club organised activities afloat. The clubhouse will remain closed to members until further notice. Members are strongly advised to observe the current government advice/directives.

Members are reminded to observe social distancing guidance & keep 6 feet apart when in the AYC yard. We MUST all do this or lock down will be imposed by the government. Young or old, it applies to EVERYONE!!! Its great to see people working on their boats & good to see the first boat on the pontoons. The forecast is good for this week but please keep yourselves & your fellow members safe.

Following the Government's statement on the coronavirus pandemic on Thursday, the Executive Committee has taken the decision to cancel the Fitting Out Party. The EC will continue to monitor the situation & will keep members updated on any other changes to Club activities as needed. The 1920's theme will be held over to the Laying Up Supper in the Autumn.

The Activities Afloat Committee has updated the AYC Activities Afloat Safety Code. Axmouth Harbour Pilotage notes can be found in the 'Activities Afloat' menu. Please note the inclusion of an advisory AYC speed limit between the harbour limits and Seaton Bay restricted speed areas. With most of the scaffolding down you can now see how the clubhouse is developing. Although the new roof makes the clubhouse look much bigger, the footprint has not been increased dramatically, but the inside space should be much more useable. Volunteer working parties will be organised in the next couple of weeks to help with decorating & fitting out. We are delighted to announce that Axe Vale Festival have awarded us a grant of £1000 from the profits of the 2019 Axe Vale Show. The funding is for a Gridforce ground protection system, which will be used to reinforce the shingle beach beside the clubhouse. This will improve accessibility to dinghy sailing in Lyme Bay & should be in place for the start of the 2020 sailing season.
