River Race 14 Results

Published 12:04 on 8 Oct 2026

Fun & games up the river last evening - the fresh NNWly was a bit of a challenge! At two thirty in the afternoon it looked very much like we wouldn't sail due to strength of the wind. By 15:30 the sun had come out and the wind seemed to have eased. Eleven boats ventured up the river, however, a couple decided not to start and two retired. Unfortunately, the fresh conditions saw two boats capsize, one before starting and one during the race, providing added entertainment for those gathered on the Green! Fortunately all returned safely with only their pride dented!

As for the results, Ian France in his West Wight Scow was in two minds whether to go, good job he did, Ian won the race on handicap - well done!

A certain AOD led the fleet on the water closely followed by Alex in his Mirror & Grahan in AOD 24 - the handicap results came out very close.

So, this brings to a close the River Race Series for 2026, of course this would not be possible without the support of our Race Officers, Pimms Crew & support boat, our thanks to all of them.

We now look forward to the end of season supper at the Ship Inn on Sunday. The prize giving will follow at a later TBA... in the meantime we'll crunch the results for the overall winners...
