RNLI - AYC's Nominated Charity
The RNLI is the club's nominated charity and 2024 marked the 200th anniversary of lifesaving by the RNLI. Various fund-raising events were held at AYC throughout the year, including pig racing, a talk on Axmouth Harbour, a raffle and an auction.
The final total raised was a fantastic £6,144.89. Cheques were presented at the AGM to representatives from our two local branches: RNLI Lyme Regis Lifeboat Station and the community fund-raising team in Seaton Beer & District.
The Club also provides the RNLI with opportunities to engage with members and the public to spread their water safety message and carry out life jacket checks.
In addition to fund raising at the Club, we encourage our members to support the RNLI with regular donations or legacies. Their face to face marketeers are on hand at various events to set up subscriptions. Find out more about supporting the RNLI as a member on their website RNLI Membership.
As a charity independent of government, support is vital in meeting the costs of saving lives at sea. RNLI volunteers give their time for free, but they need training, well-maintained equipment, lifeboats and shore facilities. Please support them if you can - you never know when you might need their help!
