At the AGM, the Commodore presented the Lloyds Bank Shield to Malcolm Hardy for his outstanding contribution to the Club. Malcolm became a regular Fred's Shed volunteer when he joined the Club in 2016. He then offered to take on the role of dealing with the various licencing authorities that the Club interacts with and has been liaising with East Devon District Council, the Environment Agency and others to find a long-term solution for the relocation of silt from the mooring basin. He has been involved in discussions regarding the Seaton Beach Management Plan and has also put together a detailed response to DEFRA regarding the proposed designation of the Axe Estuary as a Marine Conservation Zone. He has quietly tackled these tasks with enthusiasm, extreme patience and attention to detail, mastering the mass of official reports and regulations involved.

The President also presented Volunteer Awards to the following:

  • Activities Afloat: Guy Clayton, Fran Clayton, Michael Crees, Bryan Davis
  • Social: Margaret Clarke, Greg Clarke
  • Training: Sheila Crees, Huntley Evans
  • Multipurpose: Ian Parker
  • Harbour Services: Neil Goldsworthy, Ted Needham, Malcolm Hardy
