Roobarb Wins The Dartmouth Race UPDATED RESULTS

Published 21:26 on 10 Jun 2016

16 boats set sail for Dartmouth on 4th June. 8 boats decided to race while the rest opted to motor to Dartmouth on account of the very light offshore wind. At the start 7 boats flew spinnakers and one a cruising chute. As expected, Mark Jenkins led from the start in Rhoobarb closely followed by David Haywood in Canna. The wind remained light and variable throughout and after a couple of hours the light northernly wind swung round to the southwest. So a run became a beat.

By 6pm Rhoobarb and Canna were within 2 miles of the finish but could not reach the finishing line due to a very light wind and a very strong east flowing tide. Of the 8 starters, 2 retired and 6 reported positions at 4pm which was taken as the finish of the race. On corrected times Rhoobarb was first and Canna was second. Well done to Mark and Roobarb.
