​Have you ever thought about trying dinghy sailing. Just have a look at what some of the AYC cadets have achieved this year!

The AYC cadet section was established in 2013 and since then the cadets have made fantastic progress. Seven cadets took part in the recent 3-day RS Feva course at AYC. Summer instructor Matt Jeffery was building on the skills that he had introduced during the August Cadet Activity Week. He connected land-based theory sessions with the practice on the water.

Everyone coped well with strong winds on days 1 & 2, sailing off the beach with the mains well reefed. Day 3 was delayed by 24 hours to let the weather settle, but then ideal conditions on the Saturday allowed all three crews to fly gennakers for the first time. Well done to helms Sam, Holly and Charlotte and their crews Harry, Katie and Amelia (who subbed in for Rosie K on the last day). A race was held for the Cadet Cup with Charlotte and Amelia taking 1st place.
