Weymouth Harbour Master Channel 12 – Be aware!

We have been advised by a couple of club members that Channel 12 for the Weymouth Harbour Master can be problematic. The Weymouth office admits there are a few blind spots on VHF Channel 12.

When challenged by one of our members, Keith Howorth, Harbour Master, Weymouth Harbour, responded. "I monitor Channel 12 in my office when I am here and I am content the team do a pretty good job and capture most calls. For the future please be conscious that our radio is on the front of our building and has a limited range. If you do not get a reply on the telephone please leave a message on the answer machine and we will get back to you."

One of our members had to use the RNLI for a tow when suffering an engine malfunction just off Weymouth as they could get no response from the Weymouth Harbour Master.
